Controversies | • In 2010, at the MTV Video Music Awards, she wore a dress, boots, hats, and purse made of raw beef. She wore the dress to protest against the US Army's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) policy. She was criticized for the dress from several animal rights activists. [3] • On August 4, 2011, Rebecca Francescatti, a Chicago-based songwriter, sued Gaga for copying her song "Juda" from her album, "It's All About You." She alleged that Gaga "copied and incorporated substantial, original portions of her work." [4] • She has been criticized for her song "Judas," in which she is portraying her love for Judas who had betrayed Jesus. • Several people raised eyebrows when she admitted to dancing semi-nude in bars before she was successful. She said, "I was on stage in a thong, with a fringe hanging over my ass thinking it had covered it, lighting hairsprays on fire, go-go dancing to Black Sabbath, and singing songs about oral sex" • In 2010, her ex-boyfriend, producer, and business partner sued her for $30.5 million claiming compensation for creating her star image, framing her style, and giving her the name "Lady Gaga." They settled out of the court. |
